First Chase of 2018

Wow - looking at the Blog, it's pretty easy to tell that my time has gone somewhere other than my photography the last while. No kidding!

My day job's business, last kid leaving the nest (and the country), death in the family, and a big life change - moving from the fringes of the suburbs to smack in the middle of Phoenix... It's just been an exhausting last while, but I can see the end of some of it.

July 8th I tried to guess where the storms would pop up during this exciting but unpredictable Monsoon season we enjoy here in Arizona. I drove down near Gila Bend and waited. And waited. And it was about 115F in the desert as I waited. And really nothing happened until the sun started going down. Then the fun began -big time.

Can't tell you how much I enjoy the whole process. Even when I guess wrong - it's all fun times.

I lover the story behind the photo and it shows that your patience paid off greatly. I get nervous myself looking at some of these shots that you taken, it just seems the lightning was too close. :-)
